aarn: recycled respiratory mask airplant chandelier [misc]

I’ve been wanting to pick up some airplants for quite some time now. Originating from the same family of plants as the pineapple, the Tillandsia is unique because it does not require dirt and needs very little maintenance. I picked up a handful of them over at Greenward in Cambridge for a few bucks.

I was going to try and find a cool vintage colander to house the plants, but while rifling through the junk in my office, I came across a more entertaining solution. I completed a project a few months ago, designing a respiratory mask for some doctors at one of the local hospitals. I have a box of masks that can’t go back to the hospital because they have been removed from their packaging. So, I strung the masks together with an IV tube set (a leftover from an IV project that I’m working on), stuffed the plants into the silicone gaskets, and hung it in my window.
